II. About us
- The Foundation and Aims of the Czech Handel Society
Who we are, what we strive for, what rules we follow, how to become a member, what are the basic obligations of a member. - Publications
From the first edition of the Handel monograph through postcards and various information materials, a separate professional study and dense annual publications to the second, significantly expanded edition of the Handel monograph and to its even further expanded electronic edition. - Concerts & Lectures
Especially in the early stages of its development, in the 1990s, when musical life in our country was underdeveloped in the field of baroque music, the Society was active in organizing oratorio productions and opera performances. Nowadays, there is a fully developed scene in our country, and baroque music is even presented by so-called brick-and-mortar institutions, whose functioning the Society does not have to substitute anymore.
Seminars intended for the public remain a popular part of our activities. - Projects
A transparent overview of our main activities. - Foreign relations
Currently (in the 2020s), regular contacts take place mostly with companies and festivals in the German-speaking area. - Travel Activities
Especially in the 1990s, when the free world opened up to Czechs, times were less hectic and culturally oriented travel agencies were in their infancy, The Society also has this function for its members. Currently, several members of the Society go on a week-long stay every year at the estate of the princely family of Collalto and San Salvatore in the town of Susegana near Venice. We also like to go to the festival in Znojmo together.
